The NIH is the Crown Jewel of American Biomedical Research. They are going to kneecap an essential part of the US economy.

So much of our scientific and technology based economy depends on federally funded research. For example, the Internet was originally developed by DARPA. The Biotech Industry probably would not exist today without NIH research that helped start it.
