(150,423 posts)it can get very complex. SSI is another problem-ridden benefit. SSA benefits are pretty simple, though. The entire process is automated, so once you're getting regular benefits, those benefits are unlikely to be interrupted. Every year, there are adjustments, so it's important to log in at least once a year and check on the official documents that detail your benefits.
If you don't make changes, though, once you're in the system, you're in the system. It will take a major disaster to affect established accounts.
In other cases, though, like with people who are getting SSA benefits while living outside of the USA, things can be more complicated. I don't know much about that, but if you're in that situation, you need to monitor things more closely, I guess.
