1. Data good; B.S. bad. Yes, help us find more data that may actually inform us and even shape policy (in better days).

That sounds like a great idea. Without data, we are left with personal anecdotes about what an individual or a few; individuals are experiencing. Now, we CAN learn something from people's 'lived experiences', but these observations can serve as a spring board for further discussion and maybe a proposal about how to study or collect more information on the phenomenon. (Not quite at the level of a testable hypothesis, but at least a basis for systematic collection of data, or even a better formulation of the question at hand).

OK, it seems that I have gone on blathering about things everybody here already knows. I just REALLY like data and it's study and testing.
