I have been saying it all along, that we are being propagandized to be grateful when SS and Medicare are used as hostages again and pulled back again.

We get more austerity no matter what. The banks retain their power and immunity, no matter what. The MIC gets fed, no matter what. There is absolutely nothing on the horizon to slow the looting or help the people. Dangling this potential assault and then drawing it back at the last minute is how they will try to retain the illusion of being our heroes and make us cheer for more austerity, looting, and protection of the banks rather than demanding to know why it all continues unabated, even under a Democratic President, and why we are not being helped. They don't *need* to cut these programs now; they are already making money hand over fist and systematically privatizing and rigging the system to make more. What they *need* is to calm and reassure an increasingly restless and suspicious country so that they can keep on doing it.

We get more pain from this deal no matter what, but by carrying out this little act, the further looting can be played, outrageously, as a victory for the people.

We live and drown in carefully crafted illusion and propaganda to justify corporate bloodsucking. North Korea has nothing on Wall Street when it comes to stagecraft.
