I live in Western NC. They list 4 offices slated to be closed here. One that worries me is an office west of me, Franklin. Anyone familiar with western NC knows how sparsely populated it is and filled with curvy mountainous roads. There are no interstate highways in the 45 minute drive even to Waynesville and we don't have a social security office here. To drive from Franklin to Asheville, the nearest office takes 1 1/4 hours! From the far western edge of NC to Asheville is a FOUR HOUR DRIVE!
You tell me how people on SS are going to drive that far!!!
Many don't have drivers licenses, cars, computers or decent phone services. And fElon is cutting offices that help these seniors navigate the system.
I just called Senator Tillis and Senator Budd's offices. No one was in Senator Tillis' office, but I got to talk to someone in Budd's office. He said that they weren't planning on closing those offices, just their HEARING ROOMS.
What do you think of that? Is that even true?
