I'm not saying management is smart, but selling them now would be a bad financial move for anyone. The ban would be on future production only, and every pre-2013 rifle could double in value overnight. Pristine unfired rifles like those Dick's has in inventory would command the highest price on the open market.

This happened in the '90s too, but it's just possible Dick's is showing compassion and doing this out of social concern instead of profit.

Remember, corporations are people too, my friend.
...either that, or they're cold blooded money machines... I forget which.
