Life isn't that simple...nor are the stories that evolve when you look into what signs there were as to what would lead someone to want to create so much mayhem and death. No question there's a mental health component that is skirted by most as it's the hardest problem to understand and solve. It's extremely difficult in a culture where mental illness is considered a weakness not a serious health problem and we really don't learn how bad situations have gotten until the person snaps and there is yet another massacre. Could games and movies desensitize someone and have flipped the switch on this or another killer? The answers are inconclusive as the facts in the case remain so. Is it the sole cause...again, no...but let's see over time what the investigation into this massacre and the killer find out.
The unfortunate problem is that one group under attack is blaming another group who then retorts with an attack on that or another group. It's a blame game that enables people who feel some kind of guilt to wash it off. It doesn't further the ultimate goal to prevent future massacres and creates yet more consternation.
