I know some of them in real life. One is a friend of mine, in real life. He sees things in black and white - no shades of gray. If you compromise on what she sees as moral imperatives, you are on the wrong side, and she won't vote for you even if even if it is clear your positions are far closer to her moral imperatives than the other guy. One friend who used to take this position was an idealist with too little knowledge of the importance of Supreme Court picks. Others I know are acquaintances that I don't know well enough to characterize - other than to confirm that they are human and are not Russians.
