36. I remeber a documentary some years back about a guy in Tennessee who was trying to get Walmart to sell his toothbrushes

A Walmart had opened up near him and he thought it would be a great idea for both. His toothbrush factory manufactured a one of a kind toothbrush with a process his grandfather invented (and patented). he was the 3rd generation to run this factory , it had been in this small TN town since WWII. He shipped his toothbrushes to drug stores like Walgreens, Kmarts etc all over the country. Walmart refused. As the next few years went by his sales went down because his customers, the Walgreens, Kmarts etc, were drying up. So he approached Walmart again. They told him they liked his toothbrush but it was too expensive to cover their margins. However they'd cut him a deal. If he'd be willing to move his factory to China they would set him up everything he needed, including shipping over the specialized patented machine necessary, and train Chinese labor to make his toothbrushes, all for almost nothing. They tossed out how much he could make and by selling at Walmart he could clear 100 times the profit he was making in Tennessee. The guy told them to shove it.

But thats how Walmart operated. They owned giant areas of factories and would tool them up for Americans on the cheap and use cheap Chinese labor all in cahoots with the Chinese regime. Our government even gave these fuckers tax breaks for doing it. This was all cooked up and planned back in the 80's by the repukes to bust the unions. Back in the 80's and early 90's the big 3 auto makers had 30-40% stakes in Honda, Subaru, Yamaha.

The reason we have so much shit from China is because yeah, it would be twice as expensive to make it here. Now that the Unions are getting buried I wouldn't be surprised if they crash this economy then bring back overseas manufacturing and go back to paying us shit wages. Trust me, this worker shortage over here right now is driving them batshit crazy. It makes them nuts whena 19 year old kid can bargain for a higher wage because the burger joint down the street is paying it. They fucking hate it when they don't have a noose around all of the working classes neck. Fuck 'em.

Edit: You try and explain that to a 25 year old today and they think your on your way to assisted living lol
