17. Before I could vote in '69 & '70 at 16, and 17 yrs old I volunteered for 2 liberal Republicans....

to re-elect Mayor John V Lindsey, and elect Rep Charles Goodell as NYS Senator bc imho Sen Jake Javitls had become too conservative on social issues.

I never did vote for any Republican once I turned 18 in March of '72, and registered as a Democrat. I actually was thinking about being an Independent; only because of the positive experiences w these 2 Republicans, but back then you couldn't vote in the Primaries if you weren't a D, or R.

I remember a few decades later seeing post that Charles Goodell was a better man than his son _______ Goodell who was the head of ?basketball.
