(963 posts)It's still early in Trumps second term. They may still come around. They are seeing the big hit on the economy from Trump's asinine tariffs, but it hasn't got to the point where it is irreparably damaging them. But if they have kids in their forties they're aware that they have taken a big hit already. They're praying that the market turns around so they don't look like total chumps for supporting him. Vets who had been big on Trump are now seeing him as a liar and fake even before big layoffs arrive. Truck drivers are in the process of taking a major hit right now. Same goes for farmers. Lots of small businesses are seeing it's harder to get parts and supplies. Others are hearing talk of lay offs or worse. I have said to a couple Trump supporters I know, "Don't worry, I won't rub it in when the economy is in free fall or you lose your job or most of your 401k." They scoffed at that, but I could see them trying to hide the fear in their face.
