We live just South of Topeka, Ks. The place with the famous (or used to be) "For God's sake Please take cover". Any of us who were there that day do not want to lose our weather people who have watched for us for years. We do not seem to get much activity lately but to be without a station looking specifically at our area is creepy. I know I have enjoyed being able to depend on good spotters around and great weather coverage. After that storm I never want to be anywhere not near a shelter during a storm again. I started poking around because there was no weather forecast for us today. One showed us in the county South of us without a location point about 4 miles South, not too bad but usually you need that much time to get things gathered and run to your safe place. I complained. 2 hours later I came back and they had changed it. Now it is in a city 30+ miles to our East. Our storms mostly move NE so that will be little to no help. (do all tornados mostly go East? I should look that up).

Anyway, watch your locals and be aware you may not really have helpful forecasts when you really need them. One F5 was enough for me and I LOVE stormy weather.
