In North Carolina, cuts to UNC system schools were based on a very stupid review, similar to Musk's slash and burn approach.

Maybe there aren't a lot of students enrolled in Philosophy classes at any one time, but that's not a good reason to cut an entire department that is core to a liberal arts education.

I'm all for cutting waste and making wise choices, but the GOP is not interested in that. They're interested in imposing their ideology. Which, I've noticed, is based on urban legends, greed, ignorance, and sexual hangups.
