3. I'm less concerned about Trump than the people he appeals to

Trump didn't generate his cult, they manifested him in my opinion. The same way Hitler didn't come to power because suddenly everyone in Germany became a nazi when they heard Hitler, but there were preexisting conditions for a Hitler like leader. We've seen the rise of right wing leaders in many countries so it's not just Trump. It's a backlash to economic change, to our bowling alone, women's rights, minority rights.

The next Trump might not be a blithering idiot who keeps stepping on a rake. So I worry about the dangers of unrestrained capitalism, loss of community, toxic masculinity, etc. Trump's got another 3.75 years in office. He's a lame duck and it's only going to get worse. And that's assuming his lifestyle doesn't catch up to him and he has a major heart attack or strokes out while posting on Truth Social.
