Most of our food comes from the US or Mexico and there are no significant tariffs on Mexican imports at the moment. And toilet paper comes mostly from Georgia-Paciifc -- from US-grown trees. Those things will only be in short supply if people hoard, which they probably will.
The real items of concern are the products we get from China. Much of that is electronics, which Trump excluded for now. However, the stupidity of this exclusion is that China knows it can change tomorrow morning if Trump wakes up in a bad mood, and so do US companies that would import these things. So the fact is, ALL shipments from China are severely limited now because nobody wants to play Trump's game.
In other words, even though electronics are excluded, they will still probably be in short supply. Many of the TVs come from S Korea, so that may not be directly impacted. Basically the problem is chaos. With all the exclusions and the deferrals of tariffs to come later. we are getting nothing useful out of these tariff threats, but it is completely fouling up the supply chains, and will probably be worse than the COVID supply chain disruptions.
