A clear rejection of Trumpism - Australia. [View all]

We had our big, country wide federal election on Saturday, 3rd May 2025.
(Voting is compulsory here. No opting out and staying home!)

The current party (Labor) campaigned on 'we are ok, steady as she goes!'
The opposition party (Liberal) campaigned on Trump style things, like proposing 6 nuclear power stations, reducing fuel and grocery prices, and 'get Australia back on track', reducing immigration. Sound familiar?

Result?

The opposition was soundly defeated, Labor extended the number of seats in government, and the opposition leader lost his own seat.

Post election discussion by Liberal analysts all say - we got this wrong!

Australia is starting to feel like Canada. A full rejection of Trump style politics!
