7. Do you live in a red area by any chance? That's the kind of thing a nurse might say

where I live, and people are always trying to "reassure" each other that they are acceptable politically. Every one of the ones like this I've encountered are MAGA--they want to let us know they are "okay", so without knowing anything about us, I guess they assume we are MAGA too and just want us to know it? That's the only justification I've been able to think of regarding this kind of self-outing and false reassurance (or whatever weirdness it is). For example, I doubt this kind of embarrassing self-revealing occurs much in large liberal cities like Los Angeles or San Francisco. But I've seen this too and it is both embarrassing and hard to explain.



Thanks for posting this story, though. I find these encounters interesting.
