Instead of talking about "emoluments" and the Constitution, say things like "tRump got his christmas present, how about your kids, what are you going to afford?" "You got your truck you want before the tariff taxes hit?"

In a little while they will have an extended family member who got their hours cut back or an in-law who lost a part-time job.

When stuff happens, don't directly blame tRump, commiserate (I know, be an actor) and say, "well it didn't have to be that way, it's sad" and leave it at that. Make them connect the emotional dots.

Can't always play it that way and sometimes an in-their-face reminder is more effective.
