We have been at war with Russia since shortly after WWII. Was Soviet Union then.
I think many of us (including me) thought Russia was too debilitated to continue the war.
But I and everyone else was wrong.
Weve been in a hotter version of the Cold War for a few decades now.
Russia has penetrated deeply into our systems and has twice placed a president on the American equivalent of a throne.
Now he and all of his eager enablers are dismantling us from the inside. Every branch of our government is now compromised. The federalist society compromised the judicial branch and the Citizens United decision allowed unlimited money to flow infrom any sourceincluding Russia.
The flow of money utterly corrupted our political system. Many of the players didnt even know what they were doingthey were just fighting to keep their very lucrative jobs and all that money sure came in handy.
The creation of a 24X7 propaganda channel masquerading as a news operation accelerated our steep decline while our physical military power grew.
Looking back on it and all the various piece parts makes me wonder if Reagan was a Soviet plant. The moves he made had such long term consequences that have led to our current weakness.
But we are at war. Make no mistake about that. With the enemy in possession of most of the levers of power I wonder how we will fight it. But the first step is to recognize that we are at war and have been for a long time. The next step is to stop believing our own bullshit and start fighting back.
