I had plenty of brown rice and oatmeal. I used that as my base, along with the hefty, chopped leftovers of a roasted chicken I bought at Walmart the other day--I know it won't get eaten otherwise. I pressure cooked the chicken to soften all the bones (except for the thigh bone) so you can crush them between your fingers. I used the broth from pressure cooking the chicken, added brown rice, oatmeal some diced carrots that were leftover from my garden, and 3 partially used bags of frozen peas from the freezer. I don't know what it's going to taste like but it smells rather heavenly and I'll bet my dogs like it better than the $1/tiny can food I've been buying. I intend to freeze most of it after they eat dinner tonight. That way I can make sure they eat a good portion each day and none of it goes bad. They also eat dry food, but my old lady dog needs soft food. If my recipe is well-received, I think I'll keep making this--it'll definitely save me money.

Update: Those dogs SCARFED that food like they were starving to death! A 4 ounce serving—which is slightly larger than those tiny cans— took them twice as long to eat as one of those cans, although they were gobbling it up as fast as they could. I think I’ve got a winning recipe!
