His creation of a self-fulfilling prophecy of a violent protest is palpable, and I think he'll do whatever it takes to see the violence begin, regardless of the protest's collective behavior. It's a reason (one of many) why I think the Optics Argument is (at its best) wholly irrelevant and borderline naive.
