ABC News chief White House correspondent Jake Tapper is leaving the broadcast network for CNN, ABC announced Thursday. Tapper will be taking on an "anchor role," according to an email sent to staff by ABC News President Ben Sherwood.
Jonathan Karl, formerly of CNN, will become ABC's new chief White House correspondent, Sherwood announced. Martha Raddatz is taking on a new role as chief global affairs correspondent for the network.

Jake Tappers New Gig At CNN: Anchoring New Weekday Program

Concurrently with the ABC announcement that chief White House correspondent Jake Tapper is leaving the network, CNN announced that Tapper will be joining the cable news network to anchor a new weekday program. We are thrilled to have Jake join CNN and take the helm of a brand new weekday program, said Ken Jautz, executive vice president of CNN/U.S. Jake is an exceptional reporter and communicator, and we look forward to developing a program that takes advantage of all of his strengths, his passion and his knowledge of national issues and events." CNN did not provide further details about the new show, but said Tapper "will be a key Washington, D.C. anchor and correspondent for CNN."
