(7,670 posts)be warned, LXDE is purposely designed to be lightweight and to resemble Windows 9x-XP interface, it has a "start" menu and task bar, but of course, unlike those versions of Windows, you have a shitload more options to modify. It is basically Ubuntu with a different windows manager as default.
I don't know how Steam handles in WINE, my Steam machine is my Windows 7 Machine, a somewhat beefy desktop.
Valve likes Linux because of its OpenGL interface for graphics, which works better and faster than DirectX. I just want to be able to transfer the games I already have, and have a wide selection available, and I will install Linux on my gaming machine, I may not use Lubuntu, I got it because its lightweight, and mostly out of the way, as interfaces go, perfect for a not so top of the line netbook.
