He initially ruled in their favor but the SCOTUS ruling undid that. Then he ruled in their favor anyway - making an argument that SCOTUS’ ruling didn’t apply… then they just smacked him down 7-2. That’s essentially one of the liberals saying “we don’t agree with the ruling, but you don’t have the ability to ignore it “

What more can a judge do?
