7. There has been land purchased along the Mississippi

This an old story. There has been land purchases (towns/land) and man-made levy breaks along Ole Miss to lessen the impact of rising water and downstream flow/pressure. Louisiana has an overflow dam that significantly reduces flow and impact on the New Orleans area. Of course, the Corps of Engineers oversees that river.
