Or wait until we have a 1st rate mental health system and can identify every future shooter? How much in taxes would we be willing to pay? It's extremely revenue negative.
And I disagree that the proliferation of guns is more fearful than what happened at Sandy Hook. And what is feared, with all due respect to gun folk, it's the crazy ones who spoil it for the rest.
I've been converted from the sheer futility of banning guns. It would be preferable, but it's not going to happen and I'm not willing to risk kids lives daily for pie in the sky.
We can, given our skills at regulating vehicles, alcohol, cigarettes, air travel, even domestic pet ... regulate and deal with guns in their 21st century reality. They're managed, controlled, taxed, confiscated in certain situations. There is a big pile of money there that can be used, revenue positive. We can do this.
And it's not GUNMEN in schools unless they are there to shoot kids, speaking of paranoia. We speak of Security Guards, like Crossing Guards, just armed and ready should a real gunman get stupid ideas.
