In 1975, he opened an account under the church's name with Merrill Lynch. The initial deposit was $1,500. Heidnik eventually amassed over $500,000 (equivalent to over $1.4 million in 2024). By 1986, the United Church of the Ministers of God was prosperous and opulent.[5]

Are criminologists making any progress at understanding the minds of these criminals? Too many horror movies? Bad childhood?
