You are confusing tactics with strategy and purpose, and confusing means with ends. Start with the crisis, not with a debate about tactics. Imagine you are challenging the Abolitionists back in the 1850s.

You: "what are you advocating?"
Answer: "an end to slavery."

You: "what approach are you suggesting?"
Answer: "whatever it takes."

Start with looking to the Women's Suffrage movement, the Abolition movement, the Labor movement, and the Civil Rights movement for ideas.
