but it would seem to me that the only markets that would have put in digital transmitters would have been in the more urban markets. Rural stations just wouldn't have the audience or advertiser base needed to finance new equipment in some cases, no doubt.

I'm pretty sure NBC and CBS had pretty close to full VHF nationwide clearance all the way back in the '50s - ABC had 30
