Got everything dialed in to be able to retire pretty comfortably early next year, but I'm feeling that Rs, if they hold on to power, will at best intentionally fail to shore up Social Security and endeavor to allow benefit reductions to kick in. At worst they'll actively destroy it entirely in some warped attempt to "privatize" it.

Because of this, I'll keep working through the 2026 elections at minimum. I'm sure the current administration will keep attempting *all* the things that Project 2025 proposes even if Ds win big in 2026, because it's apparent that they're "on a mission from god" and don't give a fuck about public opinion. I truly think they have a mindset of "We'll be LEGENDS when everybody sees how great we've made America - they just don't understand it now" and so will plow ahead full speed, damn the torpedoes. So I want to see if voters soundly reject the current path we're headed down before I transition to a more or less fixed income.

Then again, I'm so disillusioned with a significant percentage of my fellow Americans that I'm about ready to say "fuck this place", take the earliest retirement date, and move to a country with a comparable or lower cost of living. Every day I feel more and more repulsed with the idea of remaining anywhere in the general proximity of these brain-diseased people who actually want all this shit. Between my pension and SS I'll have enough passive income to qualify for a long term visa nearly anywhere. Destinations in Europe, Central/South America, and Southeast Asia are all possibilities.
