13. In my area, CBS is on at 5:00 MDT; ABC and NBC are on at 5:30.

I watched CBS at 5:00 and ABC at 5:30. CBS did that cut-off; ABC did not. I also think that was part of the pay-off. The thing is that entire clip was all over the internet all afternoon yesterday and what CBS did was clear to see for anyone who was paying attention. My comment last evening was that Walter Cronkite must be spinning in his grave and Edward R. Murrow as well.
