When Pinochet fired missiles into the government building and took over, he called in Milton Friedman and the Chicago School of economics to set up his economy. I saw the results years later.

Yes, privatization was obvious, yes, only the rich got a good education, regulations were thrown in the trash bin. I worked rebuilding machinery in a factory, and some of the things I did were really unsafe, there was no OSHA. Women were not allowed to work in the factory, only in the office. I hung out at a Ruby Tuesdays where I watched entire families eating, eating outside from the dumpster.

Our group was eating at an outside restaurant one day when a man unloaded on us, screaming at us, he knew we were Americans. For that trip my Spanish wasn't that great but he kept repeating the word Pinochet. I imagine his relatives suffered the wrath of Pinochet.

After that episode I made sure that my Chilean friends knew where I stood. They had a gesture they used when a drink was good, they slid their hand from the top down of their neck, meaning, good. They also slid their hand from the bottom of the neck up signifying puking. Many times I said Bush (W) while sliding my hand from the bottom up.

Krasnov is imposing Horse & Sparrow economics in America, feed the horse more oats and the sparrows will have plenty to eat. Chile was an economic test case for Milton Friedman's supply side economics.
