35. If the money paid doesn't buy the health care, it doesn't help

If it has to pass through ten for-profit agencies prior to paying for the health care, obviously the end user gets hit for a fortune. There are too many versions of John Grisham’s “Great Benefit” out there. But we can’t have a purely government-run agency of disinterested government bureaucrats running it, either. If we have that, we get a version like where a Swedish friend told me, “man måste vara nästan död för att komma i sjukhuset.” You have to be pretty much dead before you get admitted to a hostpital.
