This wasn't done by vote. In fact, to this day I'm not entirely sure how it happened. But it happened.
The management company changed many of the rules overnight. Suddenly, the landscaping I'd spent years on was unacceptable. So we sold and moved.
I will never live in a neighborhood controlled by an HOA again. I don't feel like having to reconfigure my back yard every time there's a change in management.

That's like telling a homeowner how much he or she can spend on a new boiler when the old one breaks.

In a few states, HOAs CAN foreclose, if state law and the HOA charter allow it.

HOAs are too aggressive everywhere, they have the ability to foreclose a home, and the owner has very little recourse.
