First, companies stopped adding pensions to union and non-union employees.

Go with 401(k) plans, the companies said. You can manage your own money. Much better than pensions.

And you had a choice of stocks or a broad market index funds or money market. Because the only predictable risk would be if the stock market declined.

If you went "crypto," you risk losing your 401(k) to the bigger players who are playing for a quick sale and depreciation of the value.
