3. I think in his addled brain he remembers:

* A big crowd of people marching in DC
* A speech he gave to the crowd
* The crowd turning violent

And in his mind this has become, “The violent leftists were on their way to tear down the Jefferson Memorial and I stopped them,” as opposed to what really happened, which was that he told his crowd of violent supporters to go attack the Capitol Building.
