8. The problem with a general strike

A general strike usually means people not going to work. Most people nowadays can’t afford to miss work and certainly can’t afford to get fired. A better version of a general strike is a no-spend day. Declare a no-spend day and everyone simply doesn’t spend that day—no groceries, no gas, no Amazon, no nothing. Yes, a lot of this stuff will be bought at another time, but a day of rock-bottom sales will definitely get attention. But it needs to be well-organized and well publicized to make a difference.

As it is, I sometimes think our whole economy is based on people delivering over-processed food and cheap Chinese junk to each other and it would do us good to take a break for a day or two.
