35. Good question. My theory:

Many bought into the HATE: of belittling, delegitimizing, disparaging, "othering," and looking down the nose at somebody ELSE (minorities, women, gays, undocumented immigrants, the homeless, the poor, "those people"....)

under the DELUSION that doing so made them "one of the boys." Under the ILLUSION that it somehow gave them "membership," as it were.

THEY WERE WRONG. Trump & Co. will NEVER accept certain groups of people as one of them. It's all an illusion, until they don't need you anymore.

But hey. Not to worry. The newly awakened can express their outrage at BETRAYAL come next election.
