It certainly isn't normal. They might be better off spending some of that money on some intensive therapy. Otherwise, they'll die miserable and probably alone, not to mention they really, really can't "take it with them".

In many ways, it is like being an alcoholic or drug addict. Their addiction never makes them happy. Meanwhile they are living in constant fear of losing it.

Of course, there are some wealthy people who don't hoard their money and believe in giving back. Sadly, they appear to be in the minority.
