(10,919 posts)In the only 2 Congressional Special elections so far (both in Florida). In Florida District 1, The Democrat narrowed the margin from 32% to less than 15%. In District 6, the Democrat narrowed the margin from 33% to less than 14%.
State level elections have gone even better. Iowa: In a special state Senate election in January, the Democrat won in a district that Donald Trump had won by more than 20 points in the 2024 election. In a Pennsylvania special state Senate election in March, the Democrat won a seat in a district that Trump also carried by a double-digit margin. This was such a strong Republican district, that the Democrats didn't even field a candidate in the last general election in 2022.
On June 10, Democrats over-performed in 5 of 6 special elections, and the one they didn't over perform in, they still won.
And of course, the Democrat won the Wisconsin Supreme Court election pretty easily despite a record amount of money being spent on the Republican side by Elon Musk (and others).

There are 2 more special elections which could be flipped by Democrats being held today.
If you only read this site, you'd think Democrats were in dire straits, yet somehow they are performing extremely well in elections this year.
