Not that Galen had the modern understanding of infectious disease. The Roman medical pioneer Galen believed the plague afflicting Rome was a result of an excess of the humor black bile. Galen was a learned man and a pioneer in medicine, but, of course, he knew nothing of the work of Pasteur 2000 years later. But still, his theory was no worse than RFK, Jr's. Galen suggested treatments that included mountain cow's milk, dirt from Armenia, and boys urine. Please advise RFK, Jr of this. He may want to issue a CDC directive for this cure.
