11. And bacon!
Sat Sep 6, 2025, 05:11 AM

Bacon is now in 12oz packages that cost more than the 16oz used to. And the quality of the bacon is horrible, even a name brand frys up horrible. And the price of ground chuck $7.49 lb here in Michigan at Kroger and Meijer.
Factors Driving High Prices-----
Shrinking Cattle Inventory:
The primary driver is a severely reduced national cattle herd, which is at its lowest point since 1951.
High Consumer Demand:
Despite soaring prices, demand for ground beef remains strong, putting further upward pressure on prices.
Supply Chain Costs:
Increased costs for meat processing, transportation, and other supply chain factors also contribute to higher prices for consumers.
Increasing Farmer Age:
A contributing factor is also the increasing average age of farmers, which can impact production and the industry's ability to respond to supply shortages.
