In real palaces, though, like Versailles, there was always a design reason for the various gold doodads and filigrees - they were added to embellish or draw attention to a primary feature of some kind. Trump just added those stick-on thingies (which you can buy at a craft shop or Home Depot) because he thinks there should be no blank spaces at all. There's no plausible design reason for that stuff, but he's like the Clampetts were given a bottomless gift certificate for Hobby Lobby to buy fake Baroque decals and plenty of gold spray paint. Dumb bastard doesn't know any better.
