This is exactly what is happening right now. For SURE.

The fascists know the affectionate for Kirk was a mile wide and an inch deep. Which means everybody on the Right will soon forget him personally, and revert to the culture war that is at the center of their existences. If this kid just says "the right things" and blames it all on the "The Pernicious Left", they'll forget about "Justice for Charlie" very quickly.
