MN-GOV: Walz seeking third term as Minnesota governor [View all]
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) announced on Tuesday that he will seek a third term as governor in the 2026 midterm elections.
“I’ve always tried to do what’s right for Minnesota,” Walz says in his announcement video. “And I’ll never stop fighting to protect us from the chaos, corruption, and cruelty coming out of Washington.”
In the launch video, Walz pays tribute to state Sen. Melissa Hortman (D), who was killed in a shooting earlier this year.
“We’ve seen terrible times this year. I’m heartbroken and angry about the beautiful people we’ve lost to gun violence,” Walz says. “But it’s in these moments we have to come together. We can’t lose hope because I’ve seen what what we can when we come together.”
