Spain – After Franco’s dictatorship ended in 1975, Spain transitioned to democracy with the 1978 constitution.

Portugal – The Carnation Revolution of 1974 overthrew the Estado Novo dictatorship and restored democracy.

Greece – Returned to democracy in 1974 after the fall of the military junta (1967–1974).

Argentina – After the military dictatorship (1976–1983), democracy was restored in 1983.

Chile – Pinochet’s military dictatorship ended in 1990, restoring democratic governance.

Brazil – Transitioned from military rule (1964–1985) back to civilian democracy in 1985.

Uruguay – Returned to democracy in 1985 after military dictatorship (1973–1985).

Paraguay – Ended Alfredo Stroessner’s long dictatorship in 1989, leading to democratic reforms.

South Korea – Shifted from authoritarian military rule to full democracy in 1987–1988.

Taiwan – Lifted martial law in 1987 and gradually transitioned from Kuomintang one-party authoritarianism to multiparty democracy in the 1990s.

Indonesia – After Suharto’s authoritarian rule (1967–1998), the country democratized during the Reformasi period.

Philippines – The People Power Revolution in 1986 ended Marcos’ dictatorship and restored democracy.

South Africa – Transitioned from apartheid authoritarian rule to full democracy in 1994.

Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and other Central/Eastern European countries – Became democracies after the collapse of communist authoritarian regimes in 1989–1990.

Mexico – One-party authoritarian rule under the PRI gradually gave way to multiparty democracy by 2000.

Ghana – Experienced multiple military regimes before returning to stable democracy in 1992.

Nigeria – Transitioned from military dictatorship to democracy in 1999.
