Their thinking is their 'evidence', and it is quite clear, X is caused by Y and Z is the solution.

Reminds me of a previous 'cure' for autism, Evening Primrose oil.

Went to seminar on it, the PhD student who did the data collection and analysis had to be honest and say there was no evidence that it was of benefit in treating autism.
Many disappointed faces in the crowd. Their membership of the 'Have Faith and it will become true' church was severely tested that day.
