Investigators say Homeland Security Investigations received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in December. That tip flagged several accounts on PayPal that were communicating with and making payments to a known vendor of child sex abuse material from the United Kingdom, court documents state.

Investigators were able to determine that one of the PayPal accounts belonged to Gosnell, the documents state. That led them to execute a search warrant at Gosnell’s home last Tuesday, during which they found a USB flash drive plugged into Gosnell’s computer that contained hundreds of videos of child sex abuse material, prosecutors say.

He also used the Telegram app. I am not aware of how to get those messages, though an unlocked phone is a common technique, I imagine, if a phone (or computer) is found unlocked or someone is "persuaded" to unlock it, but heck, what does a Republican judge know about 1st, 4th, and 5th amendment rights? They'd gladly do away with them, I am sure.
