We are all "equal AND different" as the Lord/Universe intended, (ask any mystic)

but some people got the notion that "I am better and entitled to more than the other person, or that laws don't apply to me"

And this quickly gets into harmful actions.

Some think that their position as a leader, a position supposedly of trust, entitles them to harm others.

The healthy notion of privilege is that which is earned, and used for good. Like a Joe Biden.

Buddhist philosopher Daisaku Ikeda said:

“Top leaders should think of themselves as the servants of the members and of the leaders under them!”

and

The difference between a leader and a tyrant is that a leader works hard for the sake of everyone else, while a tyrant makes others work hard for him.
