Here is a historical tidbit. On June 6, 1944 almost all of the top German command staffs were away from the western front because they thought the weather was too bad for the Allies to stage an attack. Some were at conferences. Rommel would have immediately ordered all of the available Panzer forces and SS formations to Normandy while Hitler slept in his drugged stupor. Rommel's bold move would have stood a good chance of driving the Allies back into the sea. The Germans would have been the victor on the Longest Day. History would have unfolded in a completely different way. The Russian's westward march would have stopped at the English Channel.
